Frequently asked questions
How do I get paid?
Filmmakers who host their films on our website for at least 1 year are paid annually, sharing the revenue from membership subscriptions, based on viewership of the films. Payments are made electronically each February.
How do I update information for my published film?
Please keep your film info updated. Send us an email at films@cinemaverde.org
How can I promote my film streaming on Cinema Verde?
How does Cinema Verde promote my film?
We are introducing your film to global audiences via press releases, social media campaigns, ad campaigns, green ambassador campaigns and community film screenings, amongst other PR and marketing efforts. Please get in contact to support the promotion of your film with behind-the-scenes info; e.g. the measurements you took to produce a film with little carbon footprint.
How can I participate in a director film discussion?
Our team of environmental journalists are producing live and on-demand director film discussions. The interviews are taking place via video calls. If you haven’t heard from us, feel free to send a note to films@cinemaverde.org to make sure we don’t miss you.
When is the annual Cinema Verde environmental film festival?
Our annual live festival is held each February in Gainesville, Florida, accompanied by community screenings around the globe. We will inform you about upcoming in-person events and are looking forward to getting you involved as a participating director.
*Please note that we have suspended our in-person festival in 2021, 2022 and Feb. 2023 due to the pandemic. We look forward to hosting in-person screening events again soon, and will make any such announcements via our newsletter.
How do I access the films?
While you are hosting a film on our platform, you are entitled to VIP ALL ACCESS to our streaming catalog. If you haven’t received your invitation or are having login issues, please contact us at films@cinemaverde.org.
Is a trailer required for my film?
A trailer is not required. If you do not provide a trailer, we will create a preview clip of less than 60 seconds, to be used on our website and social media promotions of your film at Cinema Verde. If in the future, you create a trailer (or want to update any media) let us know at films@cinemaverde.org.
Is Geo-blocking available?
We do not geo-block our films by default because we believe in accessibility of knowledge and feel that the user experience is improved with less restrictions. We understand that in some cases you may prefer to limit screening options by region and we are happy to accommodate your needs. Send us an email at films@cinemaverde.org to discuss your request.
How long do you want to stream my film for?
We encourage you to allow us to carry your film in our streaming catalog for at least one year. Only filmmakers who agree to a minimum period of one year are eligible for annual payments from our revenue share program.
If you prefer a shorter period of availability for your film, we are happy to fulfill your request. Let us know at films@cinemaverde.org.
Will my film be available to the public?
The films will only be available to paying subscribers of Cinema Verde, with the exception of members under promotional "free trial" access and your fellow filmmakers.
We periodically hold regional live screening events, however we will contact you to request permission before including your film in any auxiliary in-person events.
